Action Plan Blueprint

Action Plan
Goal: Positively motivate students so that tardies in second grade are reduced.

Steps:
1. Create the log that will be used to gather data.
2. Meet with teachers and administrators to discuss action plan and make improvements.
3. Teachers will mark a tally next to each student’s name that is tardy on a daily basis.
4. Gather all data logs to assess data.
5. Meet with students to gather positive motivators.
6. Choose motivators that are practical and can be used on a daily basis.
7. Put motivators into place while continuing to gather data of student tardies. Making sure to note which motivator is used for each week.
8. Assess current data sheets and compare them to previous data sheets.
9. Continue to carry out the motivators that proved to be successful in reducing student tardies.

Timeline:
Begins August 2nd and continues on throughout the entire school year.

Resources Needed:
Data log sheets from all second grade classes throughout the entire school year. Noting when positive motivators where being used and what they were.

Evaluations:
Assessments of the data will be conducted several times throughout the school year in order to determine which students are tardy on a regular basis and what motivators work to get them in class on time.

Learning more...

This week I read a lot about different types of action research, in particular the nine passions that we as leaders may find our wonderings. It was more clear to me what action research really is and what is sounds and looks like in the actual educational setting. After this weeks readings I now feel more comfortable with putting action research to use in my career.

Educational leaders can use blogs in many different ways a few may include to capture their thinking, share ideas and thoughts with stakeholders, or to share the love of writing with students.

Learning about action research

After reading this week's assigned readings, I now understand a lot more about action research and the different ways in which I can use it. Through working in a school in which leadership teams and professional learning communities exist, I have had some experience with action research without actually knowing that action research was taking place. I now understand that action research is inquiry in which requires that I am part of the thought process and questioning that takes place in order for improvement within my teaching and leading. I have learned that action research offers me a meaningful way to grow professionally while engaging myself in the design, data collection, and interpretation of data around the questions that I may have. I feel that I can use action research in many different ways throughout my career as a teacher, as well as a student and a leader. I can use action research as a teacher when determining what is best for my students when identifying issues such as teaching style, learning style, and individualizing lessons for each student. I can use action research as a student by being active and hands-on during my program. I plan to use inquiry to identify many issues that lye within my school and find solutions based on effectiveness and improvement.
