Learning about action research
After reading this week's assigned readings, I now understand a lot more about action research and the different ways in which I can use it. Through working in a school in which leadership teams and professional learning communities exist, I have had some experience with action research without actually knowing that action research was taking place. I now understand that action research is inquiry in which requires that I am part of the thought process and questioning that takes place in order for improvement within my teaching and leading. I have learned that action research offers me a meaningful way to grow professionally while engaging myself in the design, data collection, and interpretation of data around the questions that I may have. I feel that I can use action research in many different ways throughout my career as a teacher, as well as a student and a leader. I can use action research as a teacher when determining what is best for my students when identifying issues such as teaching style, learning style, and individualizing lessons for each student. I can use action research as a student by being active and hands-on during my program. I plan to use inquiry to identify many issues that lye within my school and find solutions based on effectiveness and improvement.
